Recently Named “Best 1980s Series” on DVD

New York, NY -- In advance of the first-ever retail release of “The Kids in the Hall” Complete Season Three (1991-92) DVD collection, Broadway Video Enterprises is inviting fans to participate in an online fan tribute to be posted on the official website www.kidsinthehall.com to commemorate the eagerly anticipated release of the four-disc DVD set. The collection is available now on www.kidsinthehall.com and on www.ShopAETV.com – four months prior to its release at retail by A&E Home Video (suggested retail price is $59.99). Broadway Video Enterprises is a division of Broadway Video.

The release of the most recent DVD set for the landmark sketch comedy troupe comes on the heels of “The Kids in the Hall” Complete Season One being named “Best 1980s Series” at the first annual TV DVD Awards from Home Media Retailing magazine.

The entire third season of the groundbreaking, Emmy-nominated, comedy television series will be featured on a four-disc set and will include all 20 episodes plus a powerhouse package of exciting new bonus materials, including never-before-released “The Kids in the Hall” performances; two “best-of” episodes comprised of fan-favorite sketches accompanied by audio commentary by The Kids; a slide show; bios and more.

Fans are invited to help celebrate the early on-line DVD release of “The Kids in the Hall” Complete Season 3 by participating in the creation of a special on-line scrapbook. The scrapbook will showcase their personal “The Kids in the Hall” memories and stories and may include original, personalized video messages and other materials submitted by fans. The special tribute will be displayed on www.kidsinthehall.com for other fans around the world to see and enjoy. Detailed information and instructions regarding submissions can be found at www.kidsinthehall.com.

Executive produced by multiple Emmy Award winner Lorne Michaels (“Saturday Night Live”), the groundbreaking “The Kids in the Hall” series ran from 1989-1995 and featured a multi-talented cast: Dave Foley (“News Radio”), Bruce McCulloch (Stealing Harvard), Kevin McDonald (“That 70’s Show”), Mark McKinney (“Saturday Night Live”), and Scott Thompson (“The Larry Sanders Show”).

The freewheeling and surreal “The Kids in the Hall” ranks as one of the most unique sketch comedy series of all time. The troupe’s inimitable brand of humor is an unlikely mixture of satire, anarchic spontaneity, irreverent absurdities and razor-sharp monologues. After quickly gaining a fanatical following in Toronto, iconic comedy producer Lorne Michaels scouted them and brought them to New York.

During their original cable and network run, The Kids garnered huge acclaim and received multiple Emmy nominations. Now, more than a decade later, “The Kids in the Hall” is as popular as ever as evidenced by the strong ratings for the series in syndication on Comedy Central and their sold-out North American live tours in 2000 and 2002. In 1996, a major motion picture, The Kids in the Hall: Brain Candy, was released. Since then, the series’ stars – Mark McKinney, Bruce McCulloch, Dave Foley, Kevin McDonald and Scott Thompson – have continued to have great success in films and on major television series including “Saturday Night Live,” “News Radio,” “That 70s Show” and “The Larry Sanders Show.”
